The Reebok Crossover High School Christmas Holiday Showcase

The following pictures were taken during the Reebok Crossover High School Christmas Holiday Showcase in Hampton, VA. The showcase included local area high schools including Bethel High School, Hampton High School, I.C. Norcom High School, and Williamsburg Christian Academy. All of the pictures were taken during the Williamsburg Christian Academy/ Bethel High School game, which the Bethel Bruins won 60-56.

It was good to see basketball back in the Coliseum. Some of us can remember some of the bigger high school games (Hampton vs. Bethel) and even a few preseason NBA games taking place at the venue. It would be nice to see the local area schools hold more of their postseason tournaments there, as opposed to a schools’ gymnasium. Maybe I’m being a little nostalgic, but having more events at the Coliseum would seem to bring us back to the good ‘ol days just a bit!

The Hampton Roads Convention Center Gets Festive

Has anyone noticed that the Hampton Roads Convention Center has gotten a little festive this holiday season? This year the venue has decided to light the canopy with an alternating green and red color scheme. The lighting is produced by two sets of LED lights that alternate colors every five seconds. What’s really cool is as the lighting outside changes, the color scheme on the inside changes as well. Also, the LED lights on the posts outside of the building are lighted in a red and green color scheme as well.

Kudos to whomever came up with this idea. I hope that this trend of decorating the venue will continue in the future.

Hampton Landmarks Show Solidarity to France

This week the city of Hampton, VA lit up two of its most prominent landmarks with the Tricolore in solidarity with France.

One of Hampton's four sister cities is Vendôme.

Surfing Buckroe

The Buckroe Beach tide was pretty rough due to Hurricane Joaquin passing by. Although some might consider these conditions dangerous, a few individuals decided to take danger by the horns.

Supermoon Over Hampton

Although we were not fortunate enough to witness the lunar eclipse in its entirety, the Supermoon did make a brief appearance in the sky.

Hampton Honors its Graduating Seniors

Last week the City of Hampton honored each of its high school's graduating classes by lighting City Hall in each school's colors. The nightly order of colors follows the order of graduation of the high schools:

Phoebus High School

Kecoughtan High School

Bethel High School

Hampton High School
