The Virginia War Memorial at Sunset

The Virginia War Memorial was built in 1955 to honor those Virginians who gave the ultimate sacrifice during World War II and the Korean War. In 1981 and 1996, other additions of the memorial were dedicated to honor the Virginians who were killed in the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War respectfully. Today, the memorial honors all Virginians who were killed in American conflicts abroad.

The following pictures were taken in June 2015. Although the memorial is a regal sight at any given time of day, I truly appreciated how the setting sun bleached the site in a captivating orange tone.

Enjoy!
